Soggy Days
Well it has been raining for about 24 hours. A town north of us had 9 inches of rain! We had about 6. So we weren't sure if we would even be able to play our games yesterday, but it held off during that time. Our girls beat Faith 4-1 which was good (bad for Laura, but good for us :). And the guys got to play about 60 minutes of their 90 minute game. We were winning 2-0 when it got VERY dark in about 5 minutes and started pouring! including thunder and lightening. We only needed 12 more minutes for the game to count, so now we have to make up 12 minutes with Faith somehow before Regionals. Not exactly sure how they are going to manage that, but we'll see. The clouds are supposed to part this afternoon sometime.
The rain is pretty inconvenient for us right now as we are trying to paint our garage. We only have a week to get it done (according to the insurance company)...we have not been procrastinating, we have just honestly been too busy to get it done. Josh is going to take a power washer to it this afternoon to get the paint chips off and then hopefully start painting tomorrow.
Good morning. I am so tired this morning and I'm not sure why. It really took me until about now to fully wake up this morning. Coffee just didn't do the trick this morning.
Last night I got groceries and got home around 6:30 and then was off to play some tennis. We didn't even eat dinner until 9!!! I know, I hate eating that late too, goes straight to the hips, but nothing I could do about it last night.
We play Faith today and wouldn't you know we will be missing our top scorer. He is out for 7 days with a concussion from a game last Wednesday. Funny thing is he played on Saturday and seemed to be fine. hhmmm... anyway. It's supposed to rain off and on all day, but so far it's only been misting. Hopefully the games don't get rained out. I'm leaving at 3:00 to catch at least some of the girls game. I will let you all know how it goes.
Here is what I'm thinking of today. (It's kind of long, but well worth the read)
"If I am to be like Him, then God in His grace must do it, and the sooner I come to recognize it the sooner I will be delivered from another form of bondage. Throw down every endeavor and say, I cannot do it, the more I try the farther I get from His likeness. What shall I do? Ah, the Holy Spirit says, You cannot do it; just withdraw; come out of it. You have been in the arena, you have been endeavoring, you are a failure, come out and sit down, and as you sit there behold Him, look at Him. Don't try to be like Him, just look at Him. Just be occupied with Him. Forget about trying to be like Him. Instead of letting that fill our heart and mind, let Him fill it. Just behold Him, look upon Him through the Word. Come to the Word for one purpose and that is to meet the Lord. Not to get your mid crammed full of things about the sacred Word, but come to it to meet the Lord. Make it to be a medium, not of Biblical scholarship, but of fellowship with Christ. Behold the Lord." - Norman Dowdy
Would you believe in went to the Mall of America twice in three days??? Me either. We went again on Saturday with the James and the Hunters. Us girls shopped and the boys went to a movie. It was a fun evening, I didn't buy anything since I my hubby had just taken me shopping, but it was nice time spent with the girls.
The rest of our weekend was spent at soccer games and relaxing. We tied both of our games on Saturday which was kind of a bummer, but it's better than losing. Sunday we went to Fourth Baptist to hear our old pastor from Des Moines preach. It was nice to see him. We thought he looked pretty tired. Sunday afternoon Eric and Kelly came over and Josh and Eric went fishing and Kelly and I talked.
So that was pretty much our weekend. Tonight is grocery getting night. Then probably get caught up on some reading.
